Even advanced English learners sometimes mix up have, get, make, and let. They all describe how one person causes another to do something, but the feeling behind each verb is completely different. Pick the wrong one, and your sentence comes across a bit… off.
Here's the breakdown.
- He made me apologize.(我不想说,但他逼迫了我。)
- The rain made everyone stay inside.
Have 比 make 温和一些。
- I had my hair cut yesterday.(我叫了理发店并付费。)
- She had the plumber fix the leak.
Get 位于 have 与 make 之间。
- I got my brother to drive me to the airport.(我请他开车送我去机场,可能还给了油费。)
- She got the waiter to bring extra napkins.
注意语法差异:get 需要在动词前加 to(get someone to do)。而 have 与 make 则不需要。
Let –
- My parents let me borrow the car.
- Please let me know if you need help.
