掌握『Neither』与『Either』：实用语法手册

你可能写过一句“Neither of them are coming”，然后觉得有点不确定。或者你用 “either” 来同意一个否定句，却被人投来困惑的眼神。不必担心——这并不是你独自面对的问题。即使是高级学习者，两个词也会让人头疼。

好消息？其实只需要记住少数几个模式。一旦掌握，你就不再犹豫自己。

基本规则：它们成对出现

Neither 与 nor 配合；either 与 or 配合。先把这点牢牢记住。

• Either…or 给你两个选项中的一个选择。
• Neither…nor 表示两者都不适用。

快速例子：

你可以 either 打电话给我 or 发邮件。
她 neither 打电话 nor 发邮件。

很简单。但真正棘手的是决定动词是单数还是复数。

单数还是复数？取决于最近的名词

这是大多数教材说对了，但很多学生仍然搞错的规则：在 neither…nor 和 either…or 中，动词与离它最近的名词一致。

Neither the manager nor the employees are happy.
Neither the employees nor the manager is happy.

两句话语法都正确。动词会根据“employees”（复数）或“manager”（单数）靠得更近而变化。

“Neither of” 的陷阱

当你说 “neither of” 后面跟的是复数名词（如 “neither of the students”）时，正式写作中要用单数动词。

Neither of the answers is correct.
Neither of us wants to go first.

在日常口语里，你会听到 “Neither of the answers are correct.” 这很普遍，但如果你是在考试或专业场合写作，还是坚持用单数。

用 “neither” 同意否定句

很多学习者卡住的地方。有人说 “I don't like coffee”，你想同意。应该说 “Me neither” 还是 “Me either”?

“Me neither” 是标准英语中的正确表达。 “Me either” 在某些方言（尤其是美国口语）中常见，但写作时最好避免。

你也可以这样说：

"I don't like coffee."
"Neither do I."

注意倒装。它是 “neither do I”，而不是 “neither I do”。同样的模式适用于 “Nor do I”——听起来更正式。

“Either” 在否定句中的用法

Either 可以在否定句中替代 too 或 also。

I don't like coffee either.
She hasn't finished her work either.

永远不要写 “I don't like coffee too.” 那是常见错误。负面句用 “either”，正面句用 “too”。

常见错误避免清单

1. 用 “neither” 处理超过两个项目。
严格来说，“neither” 只适用于两项。三项或更多时使用 “none”。

❌ Neither John, Mark, nor Sarah came.
✅ None of the three came.

2. 在双重否定中混淆 “neither…nor” 与 “either…or”。

❌ I don't neither like coffee nor tea.
✅ I like neither coffee nor tea.

3. 忘记在句首使用 “neither” 时的倒装。

❌ Neither she knew the answer.
✅ Neither did she know the answer.
